Broken Sea

this will probably be changed over time, but it took forever and I didn't feel like going back and editing it

After going through the Forest of Blessings and Constellation Metropole, the traveler rides the train to the Broken Sea, accompanied by Nilou and Navia. However, the train tracks lead off of a waterfall, and they are unable to stop the train before falling down.

Luckily, the wanderer catches them on the way down. Due to both being from Sumeru, Nilou already knows him as “Hat Guy,” and she introduces him to Navia as a student at the Akademiya, informing her that they met during the last Interdarshan Championship, with the wanderer representing Vahumana.

After introductions, Nilou asks about the toy sword around his waist. He explains that he’s had it since he woke up there, and that it always reappears when he tries to get rid of it, referring to it as the “Hero’s Sword.” This reveals to the others that the wanderer was meant to be the hero of the story, not the traveler- Unlike what they had previously concluded.

While the traveler was helping out the world of Simulanka, the wanderer was searching the Broken Sea for a way out after hearing there was a boat in the area that could bring you to another world. He suggests searching for a different way because the place is such a mess.

Navia suggests looking for the dragon together, and he tells them to grab a dragon scale that was off to the side before they go. Afterwards, the train conductor finally makes his way over to them, and tells them that the villagers often see the dragon fly into a space behind the waterfall.

Once they head over to the waterfall, they use the dragon scale, which can turn things it touches into toy blocks, to block off the waterfall, providing them a way into the cave behind it. Inside, after going through a portion of the cave, they find an empty space, where they meet the dragon, who promptly attacks them.

The ground beneath the traveler crumbles, falling into black mist. They see teacups and hear the voices of different women corresponding to each teacup, and they speak of the fate of “another new soul” that “has joined this world.” One of the teacups tells the other to let him find his own story within the fairytale, and the scene cuts out before they tell him his name. The scene it cuts to seems to be right after the creation of the dragon, who sees his reflection in some water and is surprised by what he looks like. This scene shatters, cutting to one where the dragon is flying above Constellation Metropole and hears the terror of the toys beneath it before they start attacking him.

The traveler then wakes up with the others after the wanderer saved them again, and they realize they all saw the dragon’s memories. They feel bad for the dragon after seeing his perspective, and Nilou suggests talking to him instead of fighting.

In the new page of the book that they fell into, they travel through it and find the dragon again. He seems angry and runs away, so they follow it, backing him into a corner. The others don’t understand why he’s so angry since they just want to ask him some questions, but the wanderer is much more sympathetic to his situation and understands it much better. He says that the dragon is starting to get serious and his previous attacks were a warning, but also to prepare for a final battle because it can take a little force for someone to finally wake up.

Once they defeat the dragon, he breathes out black mist, transporting them inside of it. Here, they see the teacups again and hear the voices of “M” and “B.” They discuss the fate of a “child,” saying that he will be abandoned by his creator, which is what happened in Teyvat’s world- their fates will parallel each other due to their shared names. However, he can be given a happier ending in a different world.

“M” apologizes to the dragon for having to leave his side because she doesn’t have a long time to live. She says that once she’s gone, she’ll become a star in Simulanka. After hearing these discussions, the wanderer makes a remark about the dragon being betrayed “too.”

The next scene shown is of a flying squirrel bringing the dragon food, and she talks about how people say he’s a bad dragon but he’s nice when they play with each other, and he picks her flowers that she can’t reach. Then, her mother appears, and she cries out for help because she believes the dragon is trying to kidnap her, after which the dragon flies away. The wanderer makes another remark about the dragon being hated by people “too.”

The dragon wishes to have never been born at all, and the wanderer says that it’s not a fate he should wish for. Using his anemo vision to dispel the black mist, he begins speaking to the dragon, telling him to remember his name- “Durin.”

Upon hearing this, Durin stops, and the wanderer flies up to him to sooth him, but then Durin’s weight causes the platform to crumble beneath them, so the wanderer dives down after him.

Kirara arrives and saves the traveler, who was about to fall down as well. A few moments later, the wanderer floats back up, telling them Durin’s name. This causes the traveler and Paimon to remember that Teyvat’s counterpart of Durin, who was created by Rhinedottir. Under his breath, the wanderer repeats the word choice of “created.” He then tells the others about what he saw in the black mist, and says that when he first arrived in Simulanka he heard a voice tell him “You are the Hero of this world. Now go forth, and save the dragon.”

Then, they go down to where the dragon fell, into a study which belongs to the Goddess of Fate, also known as “M” and one of the Mages of the Hexenzirkel.

After going through the past of Durin once more, they see him again, and the wanderer assures him that nobody wants to hurt him. This confuses him, since he’s supposedly the one who hurts people. Paimon says it’s nice to talk now that they’ve calmed down, but Durin thinks it’s pointless since the world above is still terrified of him. The wanderer says that’s stupid because he “clearly” just wants to make friends. However, he still doesn’t see the point of doing anything because as long as he’s such a big dragon, he won’t be able to live alongside them.

Nilou steps forward, asking him if it’s his true wish to live side-by-side with the people of Simulanka, and Durin says it is. She tells him to make a wish to the Goddess of Fate, and they’ll help him make his wish come true.

They each give Durin their blessings, reaching their hands out- Except for the wanderer, who places his hand on his “heart,” adding on that he’d like to be Durin’s friend.

The next time Durin opens his eyes, he’s small, can talk normally, and can touch things without changing them. Nilou says the residents won’t be scared of him anymore, which causes him to worry about everything he did before. The wanderer gives him suggestions on how to atone, and Durin asks him if he’ll come along with him- Regretfully, he agrees, and they all head back up.

Once they’re back, they’re met with Alice, Simulanka’s goddess of creation, who took the appearance of a talking street lamp. She refers to Durin as “Mini Durin,” which sticks as his new name. She also explains that they were all transported there because they were each holding a copy of Simulanka’s book at the same moment Mini Durin made his wish to have never been born.

Alice asks them what they plan to do next, and Mini Durin says he’s going to tell Simulanka sorry then start protecting them.
